Filament Dryer & Filament Container for 3D Printing
D-Spool Allows for More Drying Of Filament
Description
Most of the spools used to hold filament for 3D printing are using the “closed” design — the filament is only exposed along a spool’s cylindrical surface and the rest of surface are closed. If the filament absorbs moisture from the air over days/weeks and becomes wet and unprintable, the filament needs to be dried in and out in order to print. In most cases, hot and dry air is used to dry the filament. Exposed filaments will allow more hot/dry air flow around the filament. This will make the drying process easier and quicker. With this in mind, we designed an “open-concept” spool — D Spool. The idea is to open up the spool surface as much as possible to let filament get exposed.
PLA filaments are not recommended for re-spooling.
